MASSIVE SPIKES of network traffic, and I was otherwise indisposed...

Just have to monitor the situation and see how it goes.

At some point, I guess we can look into using cloudfare... as these do appear to be genuine bandwidth type DOS type attacks as opposed to excessive number of users.

Again the hosting instance appears to have been shut down by alpharacks... so, it's not an application level thing I can deal with. Maybe I can look into using another instance to monitor the health of the main instance and automatically restart them through alpharack's API.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Old man doesn't savvy this Innerweb stuff so why is freek666 (k666.kr5ddit.com) work when kr5ddit (kr5ddit.com) don't even tho they both are ???.kr5ddit.com ? Naw mean maighn?
Pony Request, make freek666 the default because it looks way better, just needs the stuff we have here, (img/videos, exchange, etc.) ty for your consideration. And if anyone else agrees please kr5d (upvote) this comment. d5bbit if you disagree. Thanx

k666.kr5ddit.com is the FreeK666 branch that is free and open sourced.

kr5ddit.com is Casti's private stash of secret recipe code. It is not free or open sourced.

Instead of complaining about it all of the time, you could go to https://github.com/orionblastar/K666 and check out the source code and do a pull request etc. I was able to make some changes to it before my Linux system got messed up. If you claim to be a better programmer than me, and you claim to have written your own LISP interpreter, then you should be able to make improvements on an Internet forum system like FreeK666.

True, I could but I have to ask, would it be worth my time? Would it be a productive use of my time? I don't see that it would. I think any contribution that I made would be met in the same way as previous contributions.

And I note that you didn't even answer my question.

I did answer it, they are hosted from two different servers. Which is why kr5ddit.com was down but not k666.kr5ddit.com, not my fault if you have reading comprehension issues.

I guess you just lost it in your old age, your programming skills. You go and tell the rest of us to go work on code and show results, but you never take your own advice. Is it worth my time? Not really. I am going to try and do it anyway because there is nobody else to do it. I am doing it to learn how Git and Python/Django works. There isn't a million dollar payoff, this is free and open source stuff. At most I got 28.10 mBTC out of selling my Kr5ddits. That is all I got to show for my work so far.

If you want to help out donate bitcoins to the address at the top of the page. No programming required there.

You mean self-publish a book?

You mean make a Wordpress site? http://blastar.in/wordpress

You mean the time I spend offline at my house trying to recover from my disabilities and mental illnesses to make some progress so I can work on those projects?

Looks like we have some serious haters out there...

This is going to take some time to rectify.

Just so you all know, this is NOT a slashdot effect... Normally outgoing traffic is 10 or 100 times the incoming traffic. These attacks are pure incoming bandwidth and generate no http response from the server. They are true DOS attacks...

It's not going to be easy to fix this... but clearly something will have to be done to deal with this problem.

I found some ports that I don't think should have been open... I've closed them down... all I can really do is wait and see if another attack occurs.

Still, always best to minimise the number of open ports!
