I see a spike of incoming network traffic then nothing... possibly a D/DOS?

I think our hosting providers detected it and they shut down the instance... They've done this a couple of times before.

I rebooted the instance, and we're back.

But for how long?

Rusty's Revenge! I think he paid Script-Kiddies to DDoS the server here. It is because you are doing a better job than he does. Rusty was always the absentee landlord type, and then the only thing he responded to where abuse reports then he banned without giving the user any reason for why they are banned.

absentee landlord type

Didn't realize the site was down til today.
He should hand the site over to the Collaborative Media Foundation in return for a lifetime supply of monocle polish and yacht wax.
Woah, I didn't know trolltrack was still operating . . . what is it tracking?

Can't sign in ATM on shared sys. but you know who ;-)

Slashdot effect, your site gets so popular that it crashes under the load of too many visitors. Just buy a better web server.

I don't think this was a slashdot effect... just a DOS of some sort...

Is there a 911 number to call when this site goes down?

911 would be a 911 number, no?

Just call them, complain... maybe threaten them or something... and the site should be up by the time you get back out.

Also, I think 999 in the UK, 000 in Aus, and 112 from a mobile.
